208 CARES is a privately funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization building specially adapted, mortgage-free homes for disabled Idaho Veterans. These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed while defending our country and enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives.
Our goal is to provide Idaho disabled Veterans residential home ownership, using accessible design, assuring them a path to independent living.
To provide mortgage-free, specially adapted homes for disabled Idaho Veterans and their families enabling them to live their lives with dignity and respect.
Board President
Owner of Cotner Building Company since 1998. First certified accessible home builder (CAPS) in the state of Idaho. John brings passion, knowledge and experience of accessible building techniques in custom homes. He will be the design and construction oversight of our veteran projects.
Board Vice President
Brigadier General Richard G. Turner (Retired) is the State Executive Officer for the Idaho Military division. In his last military assignment, he served as Assistant Adjutant General – Air, Idaho National Guard. He was responsible for formulating, developing and coordinating all policies, plans and program for all units assigned to the Idaho Air National Guard, which includes the 124th Fighter Wing equipped with A-10’s, the 266th Range Squadron, the 124th Air Support Operations Squadron, and the 212th Command and Control Squadron.

Cheryl serves tirelessly as a veteran advocate with multiple VSOs and nonprofits. As a Wife, Mother, Sister and Grandmother of veterans she believes those who serve our country should be honored and supported.
Cheryl has an accounting background and easily prepares the financial information the 208 Cares Board needs to be a fiscally responsible organization.
Board Secretary
La Dawn is the Operations and Database Coordinator for the CWI Foundation. She is a transplant from the state of Washington. She made the Treasure Valley her home after attending Northwest Nazarene University where she received a BA in Business Administration.
Prior to joining the CWI Foundation, La Dawn had a 26 year career with the Idaho REALTORS®, the last 4 as the CEO. While there she also assumed the roles of most of the staff Director positions and liaison to every Committee. She was certified by the National Association of REALTORS® as a Professional Standards Administrator and Mediation Officer and was recognized as one of the Idaho Business Review’s Women of the Year in 2014.
La Dawn lives in Nampa with her children, where they volunteer and support several non-profit organizations in their community.
